Since originally incorporated in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in 1937, Ducks Unlimited has expanded internationally to Mexico, New Zealand, Australia and Latin America.
With more than 46,900 square kilometers or about 13 million acres of habitat conserved, DU is a leader in wetland conservation. And, in North America DU has formed partnerships with government, landowners, private citizens and various corporations to improve and conserve wetlands. By lobbying various government bodies, DU recommends conservative legislation and policies. 80% of the $180 million in DU revenues is directed to conservation and habitat restoration. A portion of your Duck Unlimited merchandise purcahases is included in this conservation effort.
The DU magazine, with its many articles on practical and historical duck hunting, boast that waterfowl hunters comprise 90% of their readers. And, funds from the sale of Ducks Unlimited products support safe hunting practices and contribute to hunter regulation. So it is no surprise that most of the members and contributors to DU are hunters and that hunters support their passion and sport.
